Departing Lilydale Airport you will get to watch the scenery change outside the aircraft from hills, to farmland, to eventually large dry cattle and sheep stations, heading for your first two pubs at White Cliffs. This tiny opal-mining town is extremely photogenic and features a uniquely Australian underground bar! Here we will have a BBQ lunch, and a short walk down the hill to pub number two and even a quick sticky beak into an opal mine.
Following lunch you will depart for pub number three (Wishing Well pub) and then onto Tibooburra for pubs four and five as well as dinner and an overnight stay at the famous Family Hotel.After breakfast you will depart Tibooburra for the extremely remote Cameron Corner, where we can literally taxi the plane up to the front yard of the pub! Here, you might like to try golf at Australia's only golf course laid out over three states.
The next stop on your advenutre is Birdsville, which has possibly the most famous Outback pub in Australia. There is a fascinating Outback Working Museum here as well as plenty of photographic opportunities and the chance to swap yarns with locals.
In the afternoon you will fly over the vast Lake Eyre and onto William Creek for dinner and an overnight stay.Day three sees you depart William Creek for Arkaroola (one of the highlights of the South Australian Outback), then on to Broken Hill and Silverton, before departing Broken Hill for Lilydale.
Flying inland from Lilydale the local green scenery soon changes to flat dry cattle and sheep country. The first pubs we visit are at tiny White Cliffs where we see a legendary Australian underground bar. Here we will have a BBQ lunch, perhaps a short walk down the hill to pub number two, and even a quick peek into an opal mine. Then it is on to the “Wishing Well” pub and then Tibooburra for more pubs as well as dinner and overnight at the famous “Family Hotel”.
Next morning you will quench your thirst at the remote but well known Cameron Corner where we taxi up to the front of the pub. Our next stop Birdsville contains the most photographed inland pub in Australia as well as boasting a fascinating Outback Working Museum and limitless photographic opportunities. In the afternoon you will fly over the vast Lake Eyre system and on to William Creek for dinner, overnight stay and an excellent chance to swap yarns with locals.
On day three you experience a morning fly-in and tour of Arkaroola Eco-Resort, a highlight of the has rugged Flinders Ranges, and finally to Broken Hill and nearby Silverton, where the famous pub has even featured in numerous Hollywood movies!
